Wall Street opened the final three days of trading in a rollercoaster 2025 that looks likely to end with sizable gains.

Initial jobless claims — the number of people who apply for state unemployment benefits — fell by 16,000 to a seasonally adjusted 199,000 in the week ended Dec. 27, the Labor Department said Wednesday.

The S&P 500 saw an increase in value from roughly 17% to 19% in 2025, earning its third consecutive year of double-digit margin.
