Scattered storms and strong winds are expected in North Texas on Sunday afternoon and evening. Winds could gust up to 50 mph during late-day storms, with the highest chance for severe weather north and northwest of Dallas.

Dallas weather: Severe storms cause critical injury, damage ahead of unseasonably hot start to fall
After severe storms caused damage and injuries in North Texas on Sunday, the Metroplex is set for one more round of hot, muggy weather before a cold front moves in mid-week, bringing in cooler, fall-like temperatures.
Dallas anticipates a weather shift on Tuesday with a high of 96°F, a heat index up to 104, and potential storms overnight, leading to a cooler, clearer end of the week.
A cold front will approach the Red River coming south out of Oklahoma Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. Storms will have the potential to become severe producing quarter size hail and gusts to 60 mph, especially north of the metroplex. Storms will likely reach the metroplex in a weakening state shortly after midnight.
Wednesday is looking cooler with a high near 83 and partly sunny, partly cloudy skies. There is a slight 40 percent chance of showers during the day, which is expected to clear up after 4 p.m. The rest of the week is looking sunny and warm with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.

Residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can expect high temperatures in the mid-90s, accompanied by thunderstorms midweek, and highs in the mid-80s to end the week. Jennifer Dunn, National Weather Service meteorologist, said the week is going to start warm, with a cold front coming in Wednesday that will cool temperatures down into the 80s.
