Tarrant County celebrates the unveiling of a new Ten Commandments monument at the historic 1895 courthouse in Fort Worth.

The fight over posting the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms returned to court Jan. 20 when the full 17-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in two cases challenging new laws in Louisiana and Texas. The court heard two hours of debate without rendering a decision.

The crowd attending the unveiling included supporters of the move, as well as critics who showed up to support the separation of church and state.

The Tarrant County monument was privately donated by the American History & Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 2015 dedicated to “educating and informing the public about American history and heritage.
