Artemis 2 mission operators at NASA are preparing the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket for it's last critical test before launch. The SLS wet dress rehearsal will simulate a mission countdown for ground teams to power on and fuel the rocket as a final qualifying check before Artemis 2 launches to the moon.

The buzz is building for NASA’s Artemis II mission that will send four astronauts on a 10-day voyage around the moon. The highly anticipated endeavor will be the first crewed moon-bound flight since the final Apollo mission way back in 1972.

As part of Juno’s extended mission, the spacecraft is making close encounters of Jupiter’s large Galilean moons after having spent most of its mission away from them. During future fly-bys of Io, Juno will survey the moon’s surface looking for new lava flows and ash deposits resulting from this spectacular volcanic eruption.

The astronauts will fly a “free-return” trajectory, which will send them looping round the Moon in a figure of eight before its gravity slings them back Earthwards, to a splashdown in the Pacific ocean about ten days after blast-off.
