Steelers wideout DK Metcalf was suspended two games by the NFL on Monday in light of his physical altercation with a Lions fan on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin wants to see what Roman Wilson can do with a new opportunity after DK Metcalf’s suspension and with Calvin Austin III’s status in the air due to a hamstring injury.

Without Metcalf (and potentially Austin), the Steelers will be counting upon mid-season additions Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Scotty Miller would also likely see an uptick in usage. Metcalf’s absence would also thrust second-year receiver Roman Wilson back into action; he’s been a healthy scratch the last three games.

While Pittsburgh has apparently reaffirmed its longterm commitment to Metcalf, the team will be without him for the next two weeks. And unless the Ravens lose to the Packers on Saturday, the Steelers will need a win in one of those weeks.
